Zazu (ZA-zoo)

A dog's dog

CH ‘PR’ Desert Sol Zazu’s Pride (Zazu) is the first puppy we kept out of one of our very own litters here at Desert Sol. Her mom is the lovely Kyra and her dad is the handsome Aspencreek’s Pal’s Bro (Bro). Zazu is a great example of a Chinook dog with her perfect helicopter ears, black masking, and high desire to work in a pulling harness. Zazu stands at 24 inches tall and currently weighs in at about 52 pounds.

Zazu is a dog's dog and although she loves time with her people, her day is incomplete if she doesn't get some hours playing and lounging in the sun outside.

A roo for all occasions

Zazu mastered the power of the classic Chinook roo at a young age (check out the first video in the link above to see what we mean). Basically anytime she's excited she lets out a gravelly 'Roooooo!'. What does that mean? Well...

A roo in the morning to say hello to the day,

a roo in the evening to help us push work stress away.

A roo for breakfast, dinner, and always for a treat,

a roo every time a new person she meets.

A roo for doggie day camp or going for a walk,

a roo for when a lizard rushes behind a rock.

A roo for a child that won't throw her Kong,

When thinking about it...Zazu roos all day long!

Always a curious puppy

Zazu is now a champion, but also is a very curious Chinook. She has to follow you everywhere, not because she’s afraid of being alone, but because she just HAS to know what you are up to! Something in your hands? Gotta smell it. Is it food? Gotta eat it. You going in that other room for 3.5 seconds then coming right back? Better follow you to see what’s happening. However, she will entertain herself with her toys and exploring the back yard, unlike her mom who is more human than dog and always wants love.

Zazu is the dog that wants to be everyone’s friend. If another dog is left out or locked away, she has that adorable look on her face like “why can’t he come out to play too?” Always the puppy at heart, she thinks everyone loves playing with her. She loves going to doggie day camp and playing with her half-sister Lyric. She has such happy howls when Lyric comes over to play!

Hobbies besides pulling

Bite-testing sprinklers, lizard chasing, cicada hunting, pond plant maintenance (pulling out our pond plants...whether they needed trimming or not), bobbing for fish food and ice cubes, chore hindering (barking at the vacuum, attacking the swiffer, and trying to eat the duster), professional busy-body, treeing the cat, emptying the toy basket, and loving on her mama and people.

Love takes time

Zazu has a more standard Chinook temperament, taking a minute to get used to strangers before loving on them. She has learned a lot of loving techniques from Kyra, and once she is comfortable around newcomers she will soon put her head in your lap for petting...oh and some roos of course.
