Pops - Concord, NH

Handsome, Smart, Friendly and Athletic

Pops is handsome, smart, friendly and athletic. He is a big love bug and exuberantly greets anyone who visits our home. Learning new things is one of his favorite past times. He is so eager to please and has earned his Canine Good Citizen, Novice Trick Dog Title and COA Novice Pack Dog Certificate. Pops also won Best Male Crossbreed at the 2021 COA Chinook National Specialty.

When he runs at his full potential, it is amazing to watch how much ground he covers with each stride when he does. He shows off his agility while playing chase in my small backyard with my Brittany and when darting in and out of trees playing with other dogs on runs in the woods.

Prefers peace and order

Pops has met countless dogs, old, young, many intact and others altered. He gets along very well with only a few exceptions. He can become overwhelmed if things get wild and will try to put an end to any rude play if I don’t get to it before him. It is heartwarming to see how he will self-handicap when playing with a small or older dog.

I am his family of one. He loves company and bonds with friends and family members who have puppy sat him. Just as he tries to put an end to dog rough housing he can become anxious with too much human activity such as kids running around the house. He really prefers peace and order. Pops is a great dog and his puppies would be lucky to share some of his traits.

Pops is part of the second approved cross litter under the COA's Chinook Breed Conservation Program (CBCP). You can learn more about the cross breeding program on the COA website. Pops and his littermates are 50% Chinook and 50% Bernese Mountain Dog. The BMD was chosen due to their wonderful mushball personality, great temperament, working breed, good bone size, and double coat; all in the hopes to keep the great temperament and working ability of the Chinook while bringing in new genes to help diversify the Chinook gene pool.
