This litter represents an exciting pairing that beautifully captures the essence of the Chinook breed standard. We expect these puppies to inherit Eddie’s impressive athletic build, and height, perfectly balanced by Maybird's stable, mountain-conditioned structure. Both parents possess outstanding health clearances and the highly sought-after Chinook "off-switch" – meaning they are ready for rugged outdoor adventures but equally content to curl up peacefully with their families at home.

What to expect:

Size & Build: These puppies are expected to be substantial, strong, and highly athletic. Thanks to Eddie’s impressive 27-inch frame and Maybird’s sturdy mountain-built structure, we anticipate pups with good bone density, stamina, and a powerful, functional gait.
Appearance: Genetically, this pairing promises gorgeous, classic Chinook tawny coats. Expect beautiful variations of the signature tawny coloring, with the potential for Eddie's rich, deep red coat characteristics and sleek, functional weather-resistant jackets.
Temperament: Above all, this litter is bred for exceptional temperament. Both parents are famously biddable, eager to please, and deeply devoted to their people. Expect highly intelligent, easily trainable puppies who are deeply affectionate and gentle with children and other animals alike (of course always with proper continued socialization).

This will be a satellite litter for Desert Sol Chinooks with the puppies being raised in the Salt Lake City, Utah with Maybird's family and Desert Sol assisting their family as much as possible, including the screening and supporting of the puppy’s new homes. Maybird, The Utah Breed Ambassador

Maybird is a lovely family dog who checks every single Chinook box. Named after Maybird Gulch in Utah's Little Cottonwood Canyon, she is a true outdoor athlete built for the mountains. An avid hiker who absolutely thrives in the snow, she has even spent time conditioning for skijoring. Yet, for all her athletic prowess, Maybird is an expert, "bombproof" traveler who adapts seamlessly to new environments, whether she is on a multi-week teardrop camper trip across the country or serving as an official breed ambassador in the Salt Lake City community.

True to the breed, Maybird is an incredibly sweet "leaner" who craves physical closeness with her family – even if that means trying to fit all 70 pounds of herself directly onto your lap for face licks. She is highly intelligent, remarkably quick to learn, and possesses a perfectly balanced energy level that always mirrors her family's mood. Wonderfully socialized, gentle with toddlers, and completely unpossessive of her toys, Maybird is the ultimate companion. Eddie, The Noble Ranch Hand

Eddie is a stunning, large-framed representative of the Intervale line of Chinooks, instantly recognizable by his classic, rich tawny "big and red" coat. Standing an impressive 27 inches tall, he is a true head-turner with an athletic build and incredible stamina. Raised on a 46-acre working ranch alongside cattle and sheep, Eddie spends his days enjoying long walks around the property, demonstrating a wonderfully soft, biddable, and willing-to-please attitude. He even possesses the intelligence and impulse control to free-range safely around the ranch's chickens.

Despite his size and capability as an athlete, Eddie is a total "daddy's boy" and a gentle soul at heart. He perfectly embodies the famous Chinook "off switch" – as soon as he is indoors, he is completely content to snooze on his dog bed or curl up next to the woodstove. He is incredibly sweet-tempered, famously sharing his space to cuddle with the family cat. With a clean genetic panel, Excellent hips, and a gentle, trustworthy disposition, Eddie brings phenomenal structural strength and a sweet, steady temperament to this pairing.

Week 4 - 8/30/2026

The Mighty 5 & Beyond litter have seemed to have reached an inflection point in their growth over the last seven days. They have clearly transitioned from a post natal period to true puppyhood.

The puppies have begun to eat their mushy kibble often and well. They avidly compete for the food around their feeding bowl. We've added a second bowl as 9 is a large number and they needed more room to eat especially with Dino (green) often sitting, lying, or sprawling across the whole bowl to stake his claim. Maybird is supplementing their eating, but clearly tiring of that many mouths and will spend just short periods of time in there. At one point this week when Maybird was in their enclosure feeding them, one puppy was eating the kibble instead. Some even got a quick taste of peanut butter as we tried to find ways to get them to sit still for their weekly picture. If this is only Week 4, wish us luck for trying to get these pictures in the weeks ahead.

In their play, the puppies are more interactive with each other. Cedar (orange) is probably the most playful, often pouncing, play bowing, and trying to wake his sleeping siblings for some romping. Zion (white) is a big leg tugger and likes to wrestle with any willing sibling. Goblin (red) has carried a small tennis ball a few times. Amongst all the wrestling some of the puppies even let Reef (purple) have a turn at being on top or biting them, though when they've had enough a quick paw swat gets the message across that it is time for her to go away.

The puppies have been outside a few times on the grass, pavers, deck, and more. They've figured out how to climb up a small grassy knoll, over some small obstacles, and enjoy biting leaves off any plant they can find. We even had a first sighting of some zoomies. Bryce (magenta) is probably the most adventurous; willing to explore new areas first and without a companion. Canyon (brown) and Dino (green) are not far behind and seem comfortable with new experiences.

Big boy Cedar (orange) is much more comfortable inside and likes to be right up against your leg or near Maybird when outside in a new area. Spike (yellow) and Goblin (red) were the only two that walked through a small puddle on the way back to the house from a play session. The others did NOT like wet feet.

We've continued to play desensitization soundtracks for the puppies including more fireworks, power tools, and sirens. The weather continues to supply plenty of natural thunder and lightning for the puppies. We continue to have lots of visitors, young and old, as we need all the help we can get playing with, picking up, petting, and handling this many puppies.
